Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules require that we ask a few simple questions about your demands and needs for your funeral plan and that you confirm that the funeral plan you purchase is appropriate for your needs.

Avalon Funeral Plans do not provide personal recommendations, so you should be aware that you are responsible for deciding whether the funeral plan you choose will meet your demands and needs.

Please take care to answer all questions honestly and to the best of your knowledge. If you don’t, your plan could be invalidated.

Our plans are instalment charge free if paid within the first 12 months in the UK and 18 months in the EU.

A Joint Plan is a single plan with two plan holders and there is no additional cost. A joint plan provides a single funeral at the time of need. You as the plan holder(s) would need to decide whether the plan should cover the first or second death at the time of need.

For a Joint Plan both plan holders need to reside at the same address.

If you have more than one residence between the UK, Spain, Portugal, or Cyprus then dual certification allows you to add a second residential address and we’ll provide you a funeral in either your plan’s primary country or your dual residence country, depending on where you die.

You can choose Dual Certificate now if you already have a residence or if you move to one to these countries after buying your plan.

Please note: We offer dual certification on our Standard Funeral Plan (UK), Plus Funeral Plan (UK) and Premium Funeral Plan (UK), OR our Avalon Direct to Cremation Plan in Spain, Avalon Standard Funeral Plans in Spain, Portugal and Cyprus and Avalon Plus Funeral Plans in Spain and Portugal.

Avalon’s plans are designed to deliver the services in the country that you are primarily resident, and the inclusions of your plan may differ if it does not take place in the country you bought it in. Dual certification does not include repatriation.

The Nominated Representative is a person that you’d like us to tell about your plan’s existence. We’ll send them a summary information pack that tells them the details of your plan (excluding the financial information) and what to do at the time of need.

A nominated representative can be your next of kin, a relative, friend or anyone you’d like us to tell about your plan. They’ll be able to opt-out anytime if they want to and we’ll let you know if they do.

It is not a requirement to have a Nominated Representative, but we do recommend having one to ensure that someone else knows about your plan. If you choose not to include one, we would recommend adding details of your next of kin instead, so we know for the future.
